New to wax melts?

  • by

I don’t believe there’s an entire day without having people to ask about “what do you mean by wax melts?” or “how can I make use of wax melts?”

While I am frequently asked this question, I’m still amazed to get asked.

In fact, I’d take it one more step and suggest that they are sort of a ritual.

…They are heading back.

…They focus on feeling comfortable at home.

…They are all about relaxation.

…They focus on creating an atmosphere and smelling the house you’re happy with and take pride in.

…They focus on comfort and warmth.

For many of us, melting wax has been in use for a while (and lets face it, in the past couple of years, a huge increase is due in part to the wonderful Mrs. Hinch) There are a lot of people users who aren’t using them yet or don’t know what they are , or how to utilize them or, even more importantly… they don’t realize how incredible they are!

This blog post is intended for those who are new to wax melting or the family member that hasn’t yet jumped onto the bandwagon and is interested in understanding all the hype is about!

What is a wax melt?

Wax melts are , in essence, candles that are not wicks. The scent of the best wax melts in a heating device (electric or using tealight) that , when melted, emits a much stronger and consistent scent unlike candles. This is due to the fact that you are melting at a greater and more constant temperature, and you are also vaporising the fragrance.

But this is why you need to be attentive.

Not all wax melts all created to be the same.

If you plan to use any kind of fire in your home, including for candles and wax melts and wax melts, you must be aware that certain products can be hazardous to your health.

We exclusively produce soya wax melts, which implies that they are made from a natural substance which is the soya beans. There are many other store bought waxes, in actual fact the majority of the melts sold in stores, are made from PARAFFIN wax.

If you’re not aware of the difference, let me explain:

Paraffin wax is derived from the waste products that are left from the crude oil process that was used to create petroleum. It’s the toxic, dirty leftovers , and it doesn’t end there. The products that are discarded are so filthy that they can be made even more poisonous by using BLEACH to make them white. It is not just any bleach that you normally use at home (which is typically 5 – 10 percent strength) it pure bleach and extremely harmful in its own.

There are a myriad of horrendous negative side effects from paraffin-based wax products, including headaches respiratory illness, nausea, digestive problems and other. Beware of the myth that paraffin is poisonous. It doesn’t matter if it’s disguised under the more appealing names of mineral wax, or softened by the name”food grade paraffin “food Grade Paraffin” it is not a good idea to breathe into.

If you plan to use wax melts , stick to natural waxes that are based on nature such as beeswax, or coconut wax products.
What is the process of working wax melts?

They release the fragrance oil within the wax after it melts. Simply put the chosen wax melt in the well of your burner and then put the tealight beneath (again most tealights from the shops are toxic paraffin as they’re inexpensive – opt for soy tealights if are able to or choose an electronic melter). After you’ve finished, can switch off the burner or blow out the tealight, and then let the wax set and then use it again. When the wax begins losing its scent, you just take it off and replace it with new wax.
Why are people so enthralled by wax melts so many times?

This is actually a series of larger questions:

Why do people like light or warmth?
What are they?
What does certain scents mean to you?

The solution is the area of your brain responsible for processing smell is close to the part of the brain that connects to memories.

Therefore, we possess a prehistoric caveman (or woman) instinct to determine whether a scent is pleasant or not, but not only do we have an old sense of literally sniffing our friends out using pheramones. We also have memories that are triggered by certain scents.

The smell that is aversion to one person may be beautiful to someone else. Then there are a few smells that are universal.

Consider infant powder… it’s an unpleasant scent that you can’t be offended by. Most often, it’s connected with safety and warmth or childhood, the freshness of an bath or the joy of being a parent infants.

If you think about all of these factors, it’s no wonder our human nature’s need for have warmth and light in order to live along with the pleasant memories that come with certain smells, creates a powerful need to make a joyful ambience in our homes.
