There are many options for insulation materials, each with a different form, performance, sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
Knauf’s mineral wool products have met the highest standards and demonstrated outstanding performance in even the most difficult projects, such as those designed to Passivhaus standards.
Glass Mineral Wool
Knauf insulation‘s Glass Mineral Wool Insulation solutions are high-performance and contain up to 80% recycled materials. Before being melted in the furnace, they are added sand limestone and sodaash. The molten, molten glass can be spun to create millions of fine strands. Knauf uses ECOSE (r) Technology, a bio-based binding agent, to bind the minerals wool together. The final product is then cured.
The insulation’s density will determine whether it is a lightweight blanket supplied in rolls or a flexible slab. It also determines its thermal insulation.
Knauf high performance Blowing Wool can be used to blow into ceilings, cavity walls, partitions, and timber frame walls.
Rock Mineral Wool
Knauf Rock Mineral Wool insulation solutions mainly consist of volcanic rock. These include basalt, dolomite and/or basalt. Recycled material from blast furnaces, such as slag, is a growing part of this product. The raw materials can be melted to make fine wool strands. A binder is used for binding the wool together to create a mat insulation. This is then cut into sheets or wired mattresses. Knauf ECOSE(r), Technology is used for most Knauf rock mineral wool products.
